Product & Fit

What does a Solid Wood Worx drawer system actually do?

A Solid Wood Worx drawer system organizes your vehicle's cargo area by turning empty trunk space into structured, usable storage. It adds drawers and levels where there was previously just open floor, so gear stays organized, secured, and easy to access instead of sliding around loose.

Is this a universal system, or is it built for my specific vehicle?

Every Solid Wood Worx system is custom-fit to your exact vehicle. We don't sell a universal or one-size-fits-all platform. Each system is designed around the specific dimensions of your make, model, year, and trim, so it fits your cargo area precisely rather than approximately.

I don't see my vehicle listed — can I request one?

Yes. First check our Upcoming Releases page (link placeholder) — your vehicle may already be in the pipeline. If it's not there, submit a New Vehicle Request (link placeholder) with your make, model, trim, and year, and we'll track the demand toward a future release.

What material are the systems made from?

Our systems are built from birch hex ply, a plywood with a textured hexagonal surface on one side and a smooth surface on the other. Birch hex ply is widely used in vehicle flooring and heavy-load platforms for its strength and resistance to wear, and the surface configuration is fixed. It can't be flipped or reversed by the customer, as it affects the assembly of the system.

How much weight can my drawer system hold?

A single-drawer system is rated for 300 pounds while driving. A dual-drawer system is rated for 400 pounds while driving, thanks to the added wood support structure between the two drawers. Both ratings apply to normal driving conditions, not just static, parked load.

Can I overload my system?

No. Exceeding the listed weight limit isn't covered under warranty and can damage the system, the vehicle, or cause injury. Stay within the rating listed for your specific system.

Do I get to choose a color or finish?

No. Every system comes in the same birch hex ply finish: textured hex surface on one side, smooth on the other. There are no color or material options to select, so what you see on the product page is what you'll receive.

How accurate is the fit if my vehicle has a specific trim?

We account for trim-level differences, not just generation and model. Every product listing specifies which trims a given system fits. If your exact trim isn't listed, contact a sales representative and we'll verify fit for your vehicle before you order.

Ordering, Pricing & Packages

How do I order a system for my vehicle?

Select your vehicle's make, model, and year directly on our website, and the matching system will be shown to you. No need to contact us first. You'd only reach out if you have questions about aftermarket modifications, shipping, or an unlisted trim.

Do systems come in different packages?

Yes. Systems are sold in tiers (naming subject to change), with optional add-ons like dividers, separators, and security locks available at checkout. All mounting hardware and drawer slides needed for install are included in every package regardless of tier.

Should I buy dividers, separators, or a bed extension now, or can I add them later?

We recommend buying them with your original order if you know you'll want them. Our designs are actively refined over time, so CAD files and exact dimensions can change between production runs. We can't guarantee that a part purchased later will match a kit built earlier, so the safest time to add dividers, separators, or a bed extension is at checkout with your original system.

Is there a deposit required, or can I pay over time?

No deposit is required. You can pay in full at checkout, or use the payment plan option available there. All packages and add-ons follow the same three to four week production timeline, regardless of how you pay.

Can I cancel or change my order after I place it?

It depends on what you ordered. For a drawer system: within 4 days you get a full refund; after that, once production has started, a 20% restocking fee applies. For Gear & Accessories: cancel anytime before it ships for just a 3% transaction fee. Submit any cancellation in writing by emailing contact@solidwoodworx.com; we don't process cancellations by phone. Once your order has shipped, our standard Returns Policy applies instead. See our full Cancellation Policy for complete terms.

Can I move my system to a new vehicle later?

Yes, if you buy the exact same make, model, and year again. Systems are built to fit a specific vehicle, so they don't transfer to a different make or model. A different vehicle requires a new, separately built system.

Installation & Use

Does installation require drilling or permanent modification?

How long does installation take, and can I do it myself?

Will installing a system block access to my spare tire or other factory features?

Are the drawers lockable?

Where do I find installation instructions?

Are the parts labeled or numbered?

Yes. Every wood piece is engraved with its part number, and all hardware is labeled with the corresponding part number, matching the parts list in your instruction manual. That makes it easy to identify exactly what you have — or what's missing — if anything ever comes up.

Customization & Care

Can I customize or modify my system?

We don't build fully custom systems or accept modification requests to the base design. However, customers are free to add approved accessories, like tie-downs or mounting hardware, to their system after it arrives, within the guidelines below.

Will adding accessories void my warranty?

Not on its own. Mounting reasonable accessories won't affect your warranty as long as you stay within the system's stated weight limit and don't compromise the wood joinery. If a specific accessory or its installation directly causes damage, that specific damage isn't covered, but the rest of your system's warranty stays intact.

Is the system waterproof?

No, it's water-resistant, not waterproof. There's no additional sealant applied by default. If you want more protection, you can apply a polyurethane coating to the exposed edges yourself to improve water resistance.

How do I clean and maintain my system?

Maintenance is minimal. Avoid leaving standing water or heavily saturated items sitting on the wood for extended periods, since it's a wood product. Beyond that, there's no special cleaning routine or product required.

Are security locks included?

Lockable slides come standard on every system, but dedicated security locks are a separate, optional feature available on select systems. Confirm availability for your vehicle before or during purchase.

Shipping & Delivery

Where do you ship, and how long does it take?

We ship within the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. Production takes three to four weeks, then five to eight business days for standard parcel or five to seven for freight. International customers can submit our inquiry form for next steps.

What shipping methods are available?

Flat-pack ships in multiple boxes for at-home assembly. Freight arrives fully assembled, ready to install. You'll choose one at checkout, or ship to a verified installer instead of your own address.

What if my order arrives damaged?

How you document damage at delivery determines what we can do, and for freight specifically, noting damage on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves is the single most important step. Either way, you won't wait on our claim with the carrier — we confirm your report within 1–2 business days and move forward with your remedy on our own timeline. For full inspection steps, freight signature requirements, and reporting windows, see our complete Shipping Policy.

What should I know before opening my package?

Drawer slides and hardware are heavier than they look and can shift as you open the box — open it on a flat, stable surface and take care with packaging near the top and sides. Small hardware is often packed within padding, so check everything against your instruction manual before you throw any packaging away.

Returns & Warranty

Can I return my drawer system?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if it's unboxed, undamaged, and all original components are included. A 20% restocking fee applies, and you cover return shipping. Systems already installed in a vehicle aren't eligible for return. See our full Returns Policy for details.

What's the warranty on my drawer system?

A 10-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original purchaser. Coverage depends on who installs it: full coverage applies if we or a verified installer partner handle installation, while self-installed systems are covered for material and workmanship defects but not installation error. See our full Warranty Policy for complete terms.

Does the warranty cover wood cracking or warping?

Minor cosmetic movement, like small checking, hairline cracks, or color variation, is a normal characteristic of solid wood and isn't covered. If wood movement compromises structural integrity or function, that is covered.
